MK-ULTRA

1953–1973

The CIA's illegal Cold-War mind-control and behavioral-modification program (1953-73), run out of the Agency's Technical Services Staff under Sidney Gottlieb. The same CIA technical-services lineage that had pursued drugs, hypnosis, and interrogation later funded the SRI remote-viewing program - the institutional root of the Agency's interest in the powers of the mind.
