1929
Founded 1929 by Gordon Battelle in Columbus, Ohio; largest US nonprofit applied-science R&D institute (~$14B revenue). Co-manages a string of DOE national labs including Pacific Northwest, Oak Ridge (UT-Battelle), Brookhaven, Idaho, Lawrence Livermore and Los Alamos. In UAP history it ran the classified Project Stork contract that produced Blue Book's 1955 Special Report No. 14, and its scientists authored the 1953 Pentacle Memorandum.
